Canpotex Donates $100,000 to the Typhoon Haiyan Fund in the Philippines

T.AGU, MOS, POT

SASKATOON, SK, Nov. 14, 2013 /CNW/ - Canpotex Limited (Canpotex) announces a US $100,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to assist in relief efforts in the Philippines, following the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan (typhoon) on November 3, 2013.

Steve Dechka, Canpotex's President and Chief Executive Officer, stated that this donation validates Canpotex's focus on long-term relationships and commitment to its Philippines' loyal customers and their affected families and country.

"Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines and all those who have been affected by the typhoon. Our employees all over the world and our shareholders—Agrium, Mosaic and PotashCorp—share a great concern for what has emerged by this natural disaster, and we hope that our donation makes an immediate impact in recovery efforts for the Philippines," stated Dechka. "

"The Canadian Red Cross is very thankful for the support of Canpotex," says Richard Kies, Provincial Development Manager for the Canadian Red Cross, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan branch. "The contribution will be a great help to the people in the Philippines to assist in providing the relief needed for the communities who have been affected by the typhoon."

As the world's premier potash exporter, Canpotex has been a major supplier of potash to the Philippines for over 41 years. Long-term relationships are the cornerstone of its business model, and at this difficult time in the Philippines, Canpotex and its shareholders are sensitive to the needs of its Philippines' customers and the role that they play in using Saskatchewan's potash to help meet the growing global demand for food. Dechka stated that Canpotex will continue to monitor the situation in the Philippines in hopes that its contribution will make a difference in the lives of those affected by the typhoon.

Operating continuously since 1972, Canpotex is the exclusive offshore marketing company owned by the three Saskatchewan potash producing companies: Agrium Inc. (TSX and NYSE: AGU), Mosaic Canada Crop Nutrition, LP, a subsidiary of The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS), and Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (TSX and NYSE: POT).
