ATLANTA, Oct. 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This October, the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) encourages schools, businesses and community members to celebrate Crime Prevention Month. Since 1984, the NCPC has sponsored Crime Prevention Month to promote public safety through education and events that cultivate awareness and "Celebrate Safe Communities." U.S. Security Associates (USA) is proud to support Crime Prevention Month by providing safety resources, delivering superior security service, and highlighting successful crime prevention.
Each week in October, the NCPC puts a different area of crime in the spotlight with the themes Protecting Your Personal Property, Staying Safe in a High-Tech World, School Safety and Security, and Safety in the Golden Years. USA provides security services for many organizations where these messages are relevant, including healthcare and senior care facilities, schools and universities, corporate offices, commercial and residential properties, and industrial and manufacturing facilities.
In addition to developing expert, industry-specific approaches to crime prevention for clients, USA provides free resources for the public through its website. For example, USA publishes weekly Securing Knowledge articles providing safety tips on different types of crime or threats to safety. Through the Securing Knowledge series, USA arms individuals, families and organizations with information to help them stay safe and prevent accidents and crime year-round.
As a national security company with 46,000 employees and 160 local offices, USA is actively involved in crime prevention nationwide. USA's security forces work with and support local law enforcement officials in a cooperative approach to crime prevention. USA's security service personnel participate in extensive training on the use of force, communications and report writing to meet contractual requirements that often include making arrests, enforcing property rules and regulations, communicating critical information to police and medical responders, and providing detailed, accurate, timely reporting.
By recognizing and rewarding security officers for successful crime prevention, USA provides added motivation for employees to be vigilant in the observation and reporting of any suspicious activity. Employees who contribute to crime prevention are eligible for special incentive awards including recognition ceremonies and certificates, cash, savings bonds, custom-made belt buckles and Officer of the Month and Officer of the Year Awards.
According to the NCPC, "October has become the official month for recognizing and celebrating the practice of crime prevention, while promoting awareness of important issues such as victimization, volunteerism, and creating safer, more caring communities." Through public sharing of information and resources along with deterrence of crime at thousands of locations across America, USA works to "Celebrate Safe Communities" this month and every month.
