City of Oakland Selects Envista Enterprise ROW Coordination Platform to Maximize Efficiency of Major Infrastructure Improvements and Ongoing Municipal Activities
Cloud-Based Solution Streamlines Utility Project Coordination; Simplifies Management of Street Events and Incidents; Improves Transparency Through Greater Information Sharing With Public
BEVERLY, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 20, 2013) - Envista Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise right-of-way (ROW) coordination solutions in the cloud, today announced that the City of Oakland, Calif. has selected the Envista Enterprise ROW Coordination Platform to manage major public works projects across the city intended to improve bicycle and pedestrian access to transit, encourage infill development, and maintain roadway and transit-supportive infrastructure, such as pavement. This contract award provides Oakland with Envista's Utility Project Coordination, Street Events, Street Incidents and Citizen's View modules to streamline coordination processes and enhance communications across city departments and with all utilities within the Oakland area ROW.
As a growing, vibrant city, Oakland is always seeking ways to improve and maintain infrastructure while decreasing air pollution to enhance quality of life for its citizens. The city was recently awarded federal transportation funds for five major infrastructure projects and will use Envista Utility Project Coordination to help manage the many logistics involved in these projects to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to the public. Envista will also enable the city to streamline coordination of ongoing construction and maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to moratoriums and avoiding conflicts with area utility projects to reduce environmental impact and save money.
With Envista Street Events, users within the city will be able to coordinate all types of municipal special events, including parades, road races and festivals. Similarly, the Envista Street Incidents module enables users to pinpoint the location of incidents, such as broken water mains, and create a coordinated plan of action. In addition, Envista Citizen's View helps the city improve transparency by publishing selected information on the web to share with the public, such as updates on construction and maintenance projects, parade routes, detours and road closures.
Wlad Wlassowsky, Oakland's Transportation Services Manager - Division of the Public Works Department, said, "We expect Envista to dramatically improve the efficiency of project coordination, replacing manual paper processes with online collaboration and communication that will save time and money. This is extremely valuable to the city, as well as all the utilities operating in the right of way, including Pacific Gas & Electric, East Bay Municipal Utility District, AT&T and Comcast. As our local utilities also join the Envista ecosystem, the value to each respective organization will compound, so everyone can maximize the benefits of real-time online project coordination."
Brad Steer, Envista's General Manager, commented, "Oakland is a city on the move and we are delighted that Envista will help them advance major infrastructure improvements to enhance their beautiful community. By taking advantage of Envista's cloud-based environment, users within the city and across utilities will gain real-time access to project details from anywhere at any time. With the automation that Envista provides, Oakland can now simplify the process of coordinating all kinds of activities within the ROW to maximize value for its citizens."
