Encana Corp. (TSX: T.ECAStock Forum)  chief financial officer says the company may decide to get rid of its Deep Panuke offshore natural gas project in Nova Scotia.

Sherri Brillon says that the project doesn't fit with Encana's new strategy, which involves focusing on five core regions in Canada and the United States instead of investing in dozens of different areas.

EnCana shares rose 1.4% to C$19.22, leaving the company with a market cap of $14.2 billion, based on 740.1 million. The 52-week range is $20.98 and $17.40.
