Shares of Aurizon Mines Ltd. (TSX: T.ARZ, Stock Forum) were down 10% Friday after the tailings dike at its Casa Berardi gold mine in Quebec suffered a breach. Aurizon says most of the material in the tailings pond remained inside the containment area, adding that there had been no further discharges and that operations at the mine were not disrupted.
The company is not aware of any further occurrence or development which justifies the share price movement, the company said in a press release.
However, the company's stock was still off 10% to $3.81 Friday, leaving the company with a market cap of $627.4 million, based on 164.7 million shares outstanding. The 52-week range is $5.55 and $3.15.
