One poster is right, timing the markets is a fools game. Whenever you invest in any of the big banks in 10 to 20+ years you will do well. Period. |

ob1knob, your questions are welcomed by me. It would be good to read more active bank boards. We have had many good posters in the past and it would be good to read more posts here. While I see nothing imminent that would make the 3 Canadian bank...

Yanno1, again thanks. themagokid, I see the PE as either close to 12 or 8.... nothing in between. I check this web site. So, when I say 12, I'm saying leaning towards 12 more then towards 8. Again, old benchmarks i've read referr to 12 ... |

good conversation here. what figures you are looking at to get a pe of 12 for canadian bank stocks? according to my numbers, the most expesive banks are bns and ry and they have a p/e in the low 11s. if you use 2014 earnings they have a p/e ...

Yannio1, I like your reply.... Thanks. I'm not saying 12 is bad or 8 is good.... but I have read posts on these boards (the bank ones) in the past that laid out that thought process. BNS holding a 12+ PE over the years, good stuff! 4% div... |

I am a long time holder of BNS, RY and TD. I am biased towards companies that have entrenched histories of steadily and significantly raising their dividends. The Canadian banks have been good candidates for such a dividend focused approach. Havi...

I'm not a bank basher or am I a holder of RY but I'm clicking around checking the share price of the big 5 and am seeing (using a 5 year chart) a leveling of price. The big 5 also look to have a P/E sitting near 12. The prospect for "...
