Liberia: British Prime Minister Cameron Visits Elementary School in Monrovia
1 February 2013
Monrovia, Liberia — On the margins of the Third Meeting of the High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda taking place in the Liberian capital, Monrovia, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the Rt. Hon. David Cameron, escorted by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on Friday visited with students of the Anna F. Whisnant Elementary School in the PHP Community on Lynch Street.
The Elementary School, with an enrollment of nearly 400 students for grades one through six, falls under the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS). Founded in 1958, it is named in honor of the wife of a respected former General of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) who established the school to provide education for children of the military and adjacent communities.
According to an Executive Mansion release, Prime Minister Cameron expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome he received from the students and school authorities. "What an honor it is to be here as the British Prime Minister with your President. She has done such a great job for you all here in Liberia," Mr. Cameron said.
