I have a broker who talks to me about financings. He tells me that out of all his clients I'm one of the only clients he has who knows what he's buying when he buys a financing. I don't say that as a conceit. I say it because too many clients buy financings only because their brokers sold it to them. And if the clients don't know what they bought, they don't know how to play the stock.
Further, way too many warrants in too many plays eventually expire because the stock doesn't ever rise enough to exercise them. I think that some investors pull the trigger on the warrants early simply because they can. The ability to exercise may be a unique experience for them.
