I don't trade much either Mew. I tend to do the research first, then buy and hold. I only sell if the CEO does something that I don't think is a good idea or if I see an opportunity that is vastly superior.

I learnt a long time ago that buying and selling on a short term basis is a mug's game because there is no way we can react quickly enough to news and the reaction is regularly the exact opposite of what you expect. Either you know what's coming or you don't. If you jump on the bandwagon one minute after the news has been announced it's too late.

Research, buy and hold is vastly more profitable and on the very rare occasion when you actually know what's coming before it is announced it doesn't get any better than that.
