I guess when it comes to a potential battlefield, all of these things should be looked at--even legitimate short positions.  

 

The following is one scenario that troubles me:  My broker holds my shares in trust.  A client of my broker shorts shares and my shares are loaned out .  Those shares are sold on the open market to someone who buys, what they believe to be, voting shares as well.  Now, when it comes time to vote, the person who bought the shares (in the short sale) and me demand the right to vote the very same shares.  That problem simply can not be overcome and has resulted in some very strange numbers of shares cast in the USA.  

 

I guess this sort of thinking come to bear when there is something so obviously fishy going on with UUU...
