Strengthening cooperation in the oil and gas industry discussed January 17, 2013 at the meeting Mr. Minister of Energy and Industry of Tajikistan Sh.Gula with the CNPC and Total.
"The meeting was organized for the purpose of cooperation in oil and gas, - the press-service of Sh.Gula - reached an agreement that the companies will consider opportunities to participate in oil and gas projects in Tajikistan."
The meeting was also attended by Tethys Petroleum Limited, which is engaged in search of hydrocarbons in Tajikistan.
Recall that in December 2012, Kulob Petroleum, subsidiary Tethys Petroleum Limited, has signed an agreement with Total and CNODC (a subsidiary of CNPC ) on the transfer of shares in the field Bokhtar in Tajikistan.
Under the agreement with Tethys , Total and CNODC will own equal shares in the field in 33,335%, Kulob Petroleum will retain 33.33% share. Tethys owns shares 85% of Kulob Petroleum.
Due to this agreement Kulob Petroleum will cover 66.67% of its expenditures or about 60 million U.S. dollars spent on the development of gas fields Bokhtar, which covers an area of 35,000 km2 in the Amu Darya basin.
The deal still requires the approval of the authorities of Tajikistan.
It is expected that the agreement will be obtained in the 1st quarter of 2013, the transaction will close.
