Well, it will never happen, at least soon enough to affect MPV, but blimps and small nuclear reactors could change the shape of mining in remote locations with no roads. Blimps would allow for moving bigger loads than they can by trucks, and do it 24/7/365. And each trip would be much shorter and faster.
Modular nuclear reactors (which ships and subs use,) would provide heat and electricity without the need to haul in all that fuel oil to supply it - cut down on the blimp loads. I'm just guessing, but I bet the big traffic on the winter road is hauling up the fuel needed to run the plant and provide heat for twelve months.
