The International Speculator, in its Oct. 5, 2012, issue, refreshes its buy of Carpathian Gold Inc. at 31 cents, officially, "Best buy." The newsletter said buy on Dec. 1, 2011, at 43.5 cents, and again on June 6, 2012, at 33 cents. Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the two buys, the $2,000 holding is worth $1,636. The writer goes over the press releases and does not find much in the way of talking points. Carpathian boasts a resource of 7.2 million ounces measured and indicated at its Rovina Valley gold project in Romania. He says investors get that asset for free while the company continues building its fully funded Riacho Dos Machados gold mine in Brazil. In a recent issue, the writer blamed the problem on Romania's "shaky" political situation. While he has expressed concerns about Rovina's low grade, Barrick Gold Corp. likes the project enough to have taken a $20-million private placement. Meanwhile, the Riacho Dos Machados project is progressing toward production. RDM boasts 1.5 million ounces of gold in 43-101-compliant resources with a good grade for open pit. He is confident that Carpathian's story remains on track. "The fuse is getting shorter on this one," the writer says.
