The Globe reported this morning that Air Canada will be increasing its international service to Seoul, Bejing and Istanbul. The management of AC is being extremely proactive and aggressive, a nice change from the past blunders and defensive posture. Add to this the insider trading seen of late and an expected reprieve in pension funding. At the same time, it is interesting to see the difficulties being experienced by United in the US. Much of United's problems are traceable to the takeover of Continental with the resultant issues of trying to combine differing computer systems, business models and cultures. It would seem that Air Canada may be best served by avoiding the takeovers many on this site have been speculating of. So far they have chosen to grow organically. Whatever they decide, they have my confidence as I have witnessed no missteps in ages. Chapeau, Air Canada.
