Knowledgeable investors will never be swayed by what they read on a bullboard but there are many newbies trying to find their way in the market with self directed accounts and emboldened with the information available on the internet. They are at the time skittish and trusting. These are the ones most vulnerable to both pump and dumpsters and bashers. I don't feel the boards affect the share price, what I feel is happening is newbies are scared into selling thereby missing a big payday, or conversely encouraged to buy or hold when a stock is fundamentally flawed.
