Slumping Natural Gas Falls on Sandy Hit to Demand
Published: Oct 26, 2012
Natural gas futures prices continued their retreat of recent days, propelled lower by the anticipation of lost demand due to Hurricane Sandy. Unlike many tropical storms that hit the Gulf Coast energy-producing regions, Sandy is taking straight aim at the energy-consuming Northeast. Analysts expect power outages and curtailed industrial output. "It's going to kill demand, it's just how much. And it's not going to take out any supply," said IAF Advisors analyst Kyle Cooper. Natural gas settled Friday at $3.40/mmBtu, down 3.4c. (john.biers@dowjones.com)
