World bank ... Here we go!

Dear Francois

Thank you for your interest in the Agricultural Growth Program.  This program seeks to increase productivity through a number of integrated approaches, including infrastructure development (small scale irrigation, access roads, markets), technology transfer, improved market linkages and institutional strengthening.  Clearly access to inputs, including fertilizers, is important.  Under the program there are numerous fertilizer trials which demonstrate the impact of improved soil nutrient management.  We are also supporting the government's soil mapping initiative which will provide valuable information on soil nutrient deficiencies. The project works closely with cooperatives, which are the primary distribution channel for fertilizers.  We are also considering a request to support government on increasing fertilizer supplies, including benefiting from local sources.

regards
