An Interesting June Indeed (Part II)

In my last post it took me all of a few sentences to get off topic and start raving about the money supply when I really intended to talk about some stock picks with the potential for good news forthcoming. Anyhow, the last few days have made me suspect that the junior mining markets will be both weak and volatile as trader types move to the safer part of the risk-return curve. I have seen at least a few people (myself included) mention that they are moving more to cash or more liquid securities.

Me? I traded out of a few non-core names which I still like (AMY, SPM, MLG) and built cash. Weak and volatile markets mean that bargains will be there for the taking if you are patient. It also means that when good news comes out, there will be momentum types sitting with funds 'burning a hole in their pockets' ready to move.

Of the stocks I still hold here are some near-term stories...

V.ROZ will be spudding their first officer basin well. Results will be in three weeks later.
V.PFC will be drilling their first first 'Bakken style' well in the Georgina basin starting (if my memory is correct) June 10.

Both these names are going to fly if they hit (and drop like a stone if they don't so be warned!!!). I usually don't sound so optimistic about names, but they are really neat plays.

V.GBB will be coming out with their first 43-101 report this summer if all goes well. Osisko just took a 10% position in neighboring V.THG... people are suggesting takeout. One source tells me that some companies have been interested in the V.AGE block next to GBB's Granada block model. The area around Granada is heating up a bit. GBB is also drilling a silver play for future spin-off but this is of a secondary importance.

V.VST is going to report the results of the flow tests on their initial Kurdistan well by the end of the month. I am cautiously optimistic. Of course drilling the darn thing has basically taken a year (ahhhhh!!!!!) so who knows how long a flow test can take right? Just in case... don't hold your breath... but certainly stay tuned. The knock here is that the stock is discounting, in my opinion, at least a 5000-10000 boe/d type of well. Don't be surprised if the stock doesn't go parabolic on the news and expect some sort of financing too.

V.PX will be releasing drill results as they get them in. Don't be surprised if Obuassi finally produces some worthy results... though expect that most of the news relates to Manfo.

I've mentioned more than a few picks here. I hope there's enough for you to start your own research.

Do your own DD from reliable third party sources. Don't trust my words as if they were Gospel... while I like to think I am an honest Cephalopod, I am not a fiduciary (relative to you the dear reader) and thus you should not act solely on my advice. I own full positions in V.GBB and V.PX, a position in V.VST, and smaller stakes in V.ROZ and V.PFC so take anything I say 'with a grain of salt'.
