Hello, and welcome to my Trader's Blog. This blog is going to be a little different, and I'll explain how. First, I should explain a little about myself. I've been a trader at a well known prop firm in Toronto for the past four years. Recently, I've struck it out on my own and now trade from home. I've decided to start a blog of some of my trades. I'm going to start with an arbitrary sum ($100,00) and post all my trades as I do them in the form of a blog, and keep a running tally. Hopefully, the portfolio should do well, and some people who may not know otherwise willbe able to see good trading skills, most importantly the discilpine required to cut your losses short, and let your winners run. While I will certainly NOT be posting all of my trades, all of the trades I DO post will be real ones that I will also make in my own portfolio. The size of the trades here may not be the size I trade them in real life (sometimes they will be less, sometimes more) but they will all be real.

Well, it would appear our decision to cover all of our shorts and move into cash on Thursday was in hindsight as near to perfect as you can get. While I'd like to chalk that up to my fantastic trading skills and market feel, the fact is ...

Well, it happened much quicker then we though (I figured it would take a few days to get where we are now) but when the time is right to exit a trade, the time is right.Personally, I think JNS can easily continue to go down from here, but the fact is, everything is falling too fast too soon, and volatility is getting to intolerable levels, even for me, (and I love volatility). We are covering our s ...

Well, since our post back in April, our short of JNS has given us an unrealized profit of 14%. After such a gain in such a short time, it is always wise to reassess the situation and deicde if wish to leave the trade alone, close the trade, close some, or add more. In this case, looking at the chart, I am reminded of one of the msot important rules any trader can use:"Always cut your losers short ...

I ran out of room in the intro, so let me explain how this blog will work. We're going to start with a sum of $100,000. Whenever we make a trade, we will post how many shares are in what security, and keep a profit and loss category. Of course, while every trade I make on this blog is also a trade I make in real life, I also own securities that I will not discuss. Due to the nature of the blog, we ...
