An update to my current status as of May 16, 2013.
A big thank you for all the well wishes to those who have left comments and messaged me.
I had a liver transplant June 11, 2012. I was diagnosed with Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC, also called malignant hepatoma). HCC is the most common type of liver cancer. I was given 6 months to live. The only way to beat this was to undergo a liver transplant. The drawback was that the waiting list was 2 years. I was most fortunate to be saved by my nephew who step forward to be my living donor.
The operation was a success. However, I had ongoing problems with my bile duct which connects the liver to the intestine. I exhausted all other means to remedy this problem but none worked. In the end I had to undergo another operation (which was just as exhaustive as a transplant) to rebuild a new bile duct.
This operation has been a success so far. I have been warned that I can still experience the same problem with the rebuilt bile duct. I have one tube (a PTC tube) left in me which should come out over the next couple of weeks.
I have been able to maintain some trading over the last year. I hope to start posting my trading results again in the next couple of months.
A couple hours after my surgery April 15, 2013
Not long after I went Code Blue. My heart rate went to 220 and I needed a defibrillator. A good thing I was in ICU at the time. I had reacted negatively to my pain medication.
April 21, 2013 I was able to make my way outside and enjoy some sunlight.
May 3rd, 2013 I was back in Emerge to have a tube looked at. I am currently awaiting to have the last tube removed This should happen over the next couple of weeks and I should be back to normal. (as a transplant patient should be.)
Best of trades to all.
