Applied Signal Technology, Inc. to Showcase Tactical SIGINT Products at 46th Annual AOC International Symposium and Convention
Applied Signal Technology Inc

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct 16, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (AST) (NASDAQ:APSG), a market leader in advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions, today announced that it will showcase an extensive collection of next-generation, tactical communications surveillance and electronic warfare products at the 46th Annual AOC International Symposium and Convention on October 19-21 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC.

The Company will showcase a wide range of low size, weight, and power (SWAP) products that collect and produce actionable intelligence through the detection, interception, and evaluation of hundreds of thousands of signals, including wireless communication signals and electronic emitters. These capabilities are key to ensuring that U.S. troops retain their dominant tactical advantage in today's increasingly complex and asymmetric combat environment.

AST has developed a family of software-defined radio (SDRs) systems for mobile, fixed, dismounted, and airborne applications. Some of AST's advanced ISR products being showcased are the Model 570X SIREN, Model 660 HYDRA, Model 680 RAIDER, and the PEGASUS family of products. These products will be on display at booth number 511.

AST's Model 570X SIREN offers an extremely low SWAP profile, allowing superior functionality for both ground-based and airborne signals intelligence (SIGINT) operations, and is particularly well suited for deployment on small, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) where low SWAP payload is paramount. The miniature system provides passive surveillance and precision emitter geolocation for enhanced battlefield situational awareness.

HYDRA, a low SWAP design, is a multichannel receiver system specifically designed for airborne communications intelligence (COMINT) missions. HYDRA operates across a wide bandwidth and allows tactical users to locate emitters on the battlefield. The system features adaptive beamforming and geolocation capabilities.

RAIDER, the newest SDR, is a configurable, next-generation surveillance system specifically designed for ground-based tactical operations. RAIDER has the ability to support survey requirements for very-high-speed data rates and voice communications as well as process modern communication signals with a four-fold increase in capacity over current surveillance products.

PEGASUS, a next-generation family of products designed for demanding electronic support measures (ESM) and electronic intelligence (ELINT) requirements, offers high precision mono-pulse direction finding (DF), geolocation, parametric measurement analysis, and reporting of electronic emitters in real time. The wideband digital channelized receiver, coupled with interferometer technology, delivers superior identification and location information about the enemy's electronic emitters, such as radars and weapons systems, under the most challenging conditions. The systems are fully automated and are designed in modular fashion to satisfy airborne, ground-based, surface, and sub-surface applications and environments.

Dr. Joseph Leonelli, Vice President of AST's Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Systems Division commented, "Our extensive line of ISR products provides critical capabilities to the tactical SIGINT community. Our capabilities provide U.S. troops with unrivaled information dominance and a decisive battlefield advantage. AOC 2009 is an excellent venue to showcase the full spectrum of AST's leading-edge communications surveillance and electronic warfare technologies. We look forward to presenting our products and capabilities to the defense and intelligence community next week."
