BioCryst Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: BCRX), $11.15, +$1.49, 15.42%,BioCryst is trading at its highest volume since early October. The company announced that it received emergency approval for its intravenous flu drug Peramivir to be used on those hospitalized with the H1N1 virus. However, Peramivir is to be used only if patients are not responding well to other flu medications. Peramivir is the only flu drug being taken intravenously, where other medications such as Tamiflu and Relenza are inhaled or swallowed. BioCryst, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is responsible for developing pharmaceuticals which when used, block key enzymes that contribute to cancer, infectious and inflammatory diseases.

CEL-SCI Corporation, (AMEX: CVM), $1.38, +$0.07, 5.34%, formed in 1983, is a biotechnology company, involved with research and development of immunotherapy products for the treatment of cancer and infectious disease. CVM is enjoying a 5% share increase as it was announced that the company received in excess of $10 million dollars over the last 60 days through the exercise of warrants by investors to purchase CVM's common stock shares. CEL-SCI intends to use the proceeds for its Phase III clinical trial with Multikine, its cancer drug, and to move forward with the development of its LEAPS compound, used for treatment of those hospitalized with the H1N1 virus.

Alto Ventures Ltd. (TSX-V: ATV), $0.055, +0.015, 37.50%,has not seen such a surge in the volume traded today, since the beginning of 2008. This is worth mentioning since the company closed with 83,700 shares traded on Friday, October 23, 2009, and today stands at a volume of over 4.9 million. The last announcement, released mid October, confirmed that Alto Ventures and Pacific North West, had begun their diamond drill on the Destiny Gold Project, located in Quebec. The project, which will run into the fall, will comprise of approximately 5,000 meters of diamond drilling in 14 holes. Alto Ventures is a Canadian gold exploration company with its main interest in properties in the Canadian Shield.

Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX: LUN), $4.69, +$0.17, 3.76%, is starting the week on the right foot as its presently trading at a 52-week high today. The stock is up $0.17 to $4.69 with the morning trading. The company announced that it will release its third quarter results on October 29, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. EST. A conference call will follow at 11:30 a.m. EST. The second quarter results were met with optimism, as Phil Wright, President and CEO, stated "Net income and cash flow are substantially improved from last quarter and our wholly-owned operations are well ahead of our internal expectations." Lundin Mining is a diversified base metals mining company with operations in Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

Nuvo Research Inc. (TAS: NRI), $0.305, -$0.06, -16.44%, although the most heavily traded security on the TSX this morning, is seeing a 16.44% dip in its share price. The company, headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, is a pharmaceutical company responsible for research and development of drug products based on two technology platforms: transdermal drug delivery and immune system regulation. The last news release of September 2009, confirmed that The Development Bank of Saxon in Germany would provide financial support in a co-operative project through Nuvo Research GmbH, a Nuvo subsidiary.
