Look – and even touch, perhaps. Takeover speculation caused investors to take a new look at this communications company yesterday. While Look Communications lost $6.6 million on revenues or $29.9 million in F06, it appears that the company's spectrum could hold significant value to the company's competitors in the telecommunications industry. The National Post reported Monday that the company could be sold shortly in a deal that could be valued in the hundreds of millions and suggested that recent anonymous trades could be a strategic buyer such as Rogers Communications (RCI.B), Telus (T) or BCE (BCE). In addition to $400 million in tax pools, the article suggested that the company's spectrum is also attractive, being in the 2.5 gigahertz band, which is believed to be the band slated for 4G WiMax wireless telecom, Internet and television (which Look is already licensed to offer) services. Look hired Greenhill & Company back in October to conduct a strategic review (read auction) process and last week, the company adopted a shareholder rights plan, which it indicated was to provide time to evaluate any unsolicited bids that may appear.
